What is pre-settle funding?
Pre-settlement funding (also known as lawsuit funding or legal funding) is a type of cash advance given to plaintiffs who are awaiting the resolution of a lawsuit. It helps individuals cover living expenses, medical bills, or other financial needs while their legal case is still pending. If you never get money from your lawsuit, you never have to pay anything back to the legal funding company. The legal term for this is “non-recourse”.
Example:
Let’s say you’re in a car accident and file a personal injury lawsuit. While your case is pending, you can’t work and need money for rent and groceries. Frontida Financial may give you $5,000 now, which your attorney will repay (plus fees) if and when your case settles.
What does non-recourse mean?
It simply means you don’t have to repay if your case is unsuccessful. With Frontida Financial, you owe nothing unless you receive a settlement or award. Because this is not a traditional loan, you’ll never face collections or negative impacts on your credit score. Non-recourse pre-settlement funding offers a safer and more flexible alternative to taking out a loan during difficult times.
Which parties in the case are notified?
Only the plaintiff, your attorney, and Frontida Financial will be aware of the funding.
What are the steps to funding:
1 Application: Collect the necessary case information and notify your attorney of your intent to apply. Frontida Financial will contact your attorney directly to verify the details.
2 Approval: Upon review, if your application meets the criteria, you will receive an approval notice along with a funding agreement. Carefully review and complete the agreement before signing, and address any questions you may have. Your attorney will also be required to provide a signed acknowledgment.
3 Processing: Once Frontida Financial receives both your executed agreement and your attorney’s acknowledgment, your request will be processed. You will be provided with an estimated timeline and instructions for follow-up if confirmation is not received within that period.
4 Funding: Disbursement of funds will be made promptly via your selected method (bank transfer, check, or Western Union). When possible, same-day funding will be issued; otherwise, funds will be released the following business day if documents are received after 4:00 PM EST.
